COVID Safety Information – Audiology Clinic

Welcome to the School of Audiology and Speech Science (SASS) student-led Audiology Clinic

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

By order of the Provincial Health Officer, masks are required in all healthcare settings. Read about our COVID safety protocols to ensure you have a safe and healthy visit.

In order to keep you safe and healthy while you attend your appointment, here is what to expect when you visit the SASS Audiology Clinic:

PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT:

  • Masks are required in all healthcare settings. Please wear a mask at all times unless you have an approved exemption. For more information on the mask requirements, please visit: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/info/restrictions
  • If you do not have a mask or forget to wear a mask, a medical mask will be provided for you.
  • A few days before your appointment, you will be contacted via email or phone to complete a COVID-19 Pre-screening Questionnaire.
  • One friend or family member is allowed to attend the appointment with you.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE:

  • Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your appointment. Please see below for directions to our SASS Audiology Clinic, located at the Friedman Building on the UBC Point Grey campus.
  • The Friedman Building is closed on Saturdays. Chairs have been placed outside for your comfort. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early and take a seat. One of our clinic staff will greet you and escort you to the Clinic on the third floor. We will let you know where the washrooms and exits are.
  • You will be asked to sanitize your hands upon entering the clinic room.
  • Student clinicians and the Audiologist Clinical Educator(s) will be wearing masks at all times, and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when needed (e.g., gloves).

WHEN YOU LEAVE:

  • After your appointment, you will be escorted back down to the lobby and front door.
  • Please clean your hands before leaving the Friedman Building.

WHAT WE ARE DOING TO HELP PROTECT YOU:

  • There is no late cancellation policy. If you are feeling unwell on the day of the appointment, please email audiologyclinic@audiospeech.ubc.ca to cancel the appointment.
  • All ‘high-touch’ surfaces (e.g., chairs, tables, door handles, clinical equipment, etc.) will be cleaned and disinfected after each client session and throughout the day.
  • All clinic staff are fully vaccinated and are required to complete a daily COVID-19 self-assessment screening tool before starting their workdays.
  • All Clinical Educators are Registered Audiologists with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC. If you require more information on the College or wish to report any concerns, please visit cshbc.ca or enquiries@cshbc.ca or phone: (604)742-6380.
